Well that is the final straw, I guess I am going to have to take Metro home from my favorite bar. This will of course require me to leave the establishment earlier so I can catch the train in time. Not only will I not be giving my money to the cab driver, I will also end up not spending as much money in bars and restaurants. It will be good for me to save more money, but not so good for DC's economy if others follow suit.

Well, I guess I'll take DC cabs even less now. There is absolutely nobody looking out for cab riders' interests. This is, and shall remain, a jobs program.

I would support a higher per mile fee if the flag drop was dropped another $1.50 and all the BS surcharges were eliminated (e.g., extra passenger(s), gas "emergency", rush hour, bags, bags in trunk, bags in trunk that driver helped you with, just-because-surcharge, etc.) As it is, you can get into a cab go two blocks and already owe $10.00.

It's particularly depressing when comparing DC cabs to NYC cabs. NYC's are clean, cheap, and even accept credit cards. Plus, there's a chance you may even get a ride in the Cash Cab.
