Homicide at the 800 Block of Southern Avenue SE

This past Wednesday, Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired along the 800 block of Southern Avenue SE. The 911 call came at 10:01 p.m. When they arrived on the block, officers found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a department release.

Both victims were taken to an area hospital. One of the victims died from his wounds. He was pronounced dead at 10:50 p.m. The man has been identified as Carlos Christopher Smith, of the 800 block of Southern Avenue, SE.

Smith was 27 years old.
