Is The Tivoli Jinxed?
Prince of Petworth spotted some more storefront closings in Columbia Heights: Carvel and Cinnabon have closed. The two shops were located in the Tivoli. Isn't that now three storefronts that have failed in the renovated theater space?
Is Target to blame? Or is this simply that both shops were just sucky? They always seemed to have long lines but maybe this was because the service wasn't all that great. Is the great Columbia Heights renaissance over?
I feel foolish for even posing that question. I'm sure it isn't.

oooooh.... with Carvel out of the way, maybe there's room for a yogurt place in CH. Because wouldn't mochi just make CH better?

Isn't there already an ice cream place next to the Citibank and the chicken place at Park and 14th?

there's an ice cream place--may even be a Carvel--at 14th and Girard.

Isn't that the Dunkin Doughnuts?

I believe its a Dunkin/Carvel hybrid.

@Stating the Obvious - that's a Rita's Frozen Custard place.
I may be alone in this, but i think it's kind of disgusting.

Still mourning Mayorga too much to care about the rest of the lot.

I agree. Mayorga was a good spot.

The Dunkin Donuts on Girard has a Baskin Robbins ice cream counter inside, so no more Carvel brown bonnet fix within walking distance. Wonder if the DCCH has any idea of who is interested in buying up the newly vacant spots.
