The VIN can be found several places besides the dashboard. The problem is not finding the vehicle owners, it is finding the arsonists. I am shocked that the fire department cannot provide a log of the date, time, location, and nature of every fire call they get. But are these cars so badly burned that officials can't pull the VIN #'s from the vehicles? Maybe I've been watching too many CSI shows.
