The easiest way to solve this would be for the Council to lower the curfew to 10:00 and to start rounding up kids wholesale and ticketing if needed. Same goes for Adams Morgan. All MPD needs is flexcuffs and a bus or two to haul them all out of there and they'll be all set.

It makes you wonder if the parents know where their kids are after school. I read about something like this months ago. The problems here are the lack of enforcement and the pack mentality that too many youths embraced these days. If parents spent time teaching about the consequences of their actions and less time having TV, Radio or the internet babysit their kids, we wouldn't be talking about this problem.

Chinatown is overrun by teenage thugs & miscreants. The DC police do nothing.
This situation has been true for years, & apparently always will be true. 7th & Hell is a good description.

I've been to Gallery Place recently and witnessed the chaos... I still think, however it's nothing compared to the Downtown Silver Spring scene on a Friday or Saturday. I avoid it at all costs!

Try seeing a movie on friday or saturday or being anywhere near that area after school lets out - its is complete chaos. Its turned into such a mess that I know plenty of people that avoid it like the plague. the fights, cursing, loitering- its embarrassing. DC really needs to look into fixing the situation somehow.

And its not locking people into the restaurant- it sounds like its just locking them out. Which would mean no fire code violation, I think.

Didn't you ever sneak out of school through a side door? That is, it's possible to lock a door in only one direction: Dudes can get out, but not back in.
