Several years ago I filed a Hatch Act violation complaint against Karen Shook, who was President of the School Board and was running as a Democratic At-Large for the City Council with the US Office of Special Counsel. She was paid by the School Board. The Office of the Special Counsel found that she did violate the Hatch Act. The determination letter was received after she lost the At-Large City Council race. The letter stated that since she lost there was no damage. The Hatch Act has been amended considerably since this finding but not with regard to employees running as a Democrat or Republican. I do not believe that there are any different circumstances with regard to Paul Strauss.
