I actually agree with your assessment of the primaries. However, that's the current system in DC. It's the system Schwartz willingly participated in. Heck, she's on the City Council for goodness sake, chair of the Commitee with the Bd. of Elections under it, if anyone is in a position to change the system, it's she, and she didn't.

"what about making an even bigger mockery of our election system; how about teaching our children that even if you lose under the rules, find a loophole to get what you want"

How is it a mockery? Why do primaries matter that much? Why do they matter at all? Why is the limitation on choice for the general election viewed to be desireable?

How is it a "loophole" to let people vote for whom they want?

The primaries are an unecessary and flawed system that benefits parties over the people. That's the mockery.

What an amazing development! She asked what's the worst that can happen. I guess to an egomaniac like her, it would simply be that she loses again. However, how about dividing a growing DC Republican Party, which she again proudly claims to be; what about making an even bigger mockery of our election system; how about teaching our children that even if you lose under the rules, find a loophole to get what you want. I can't wait to see the chaos with the Bd. of Elections trying to decide whether to count simply "Carol" and misspellings of "Schwartz" as votes for her, because this will undoubtedly occur. Lastly, I can't wait to see her introduce emergency legislation that forbids the registration of college students as DC voters. Good to see a public official actually complaining that people registered to vote and actually made their voices heard.

But I guess for her, all that matters is that she has a good shot of winning.
