Stop Exporting Jobs from D.C., Muriel Bowser!
I've been getting hammered by calls from solicitors for D.C. candidates lately. I got one this afternoon begging me to go vote for Muriel Bowser for Ward 4 councilmember because Bowser cares about kids and the city.
My caller ID said "000-000-0000." I asked where the solicitor was calling from.
"Illinois," she said.
Not Illinois Avenue, which is in Bowser's district. No, Illinois as in Peoria. As in Chicago. As in Not-in-D.C.
I got the same call about Bowser and kids and the city on Friday. Again, the caller ID was private. I asked that Bowser booster where she was calling from.
"Maine," she said.
Yup, the state. I'm peeved.
Bowser's already got incumbency and the coveted endorsements of the Washington Post and Loose Lips going for her.
Can't she pay some people here enough to do her dirty work?
UPDATE, 7:29 P.M.: I just got another political phone solicitation, this one a taped plea from Anita Bonds, an advisory neighborhood commissioner who is pushing some slate of local officials called Obama for Change. The call came from the 858 area code. That's in San Diego. What the hell?

She doesn't give a shit about kids. She didn't express condolences to the grieving family of a child who died IN her own neighborhood LaSalle ES. As ANC representative, she failed to respond to her constituents when they solicited her assistance on issues at the same school.

I would guess that these people don't know anything about her campaign or what she stands for. She is soliciting using false advertising. That's just sad.

Here's the thing, when candidates are trying to get elected, they are paying thousands of dollars to try and get the vote. They don't really care where their people are calling you from, they only care about the costs associated with it, and if they can get people in Maine or Illinois to call you at a cheaper rate, she will. Says a lot about her, doesn't it?
