My comment numbered 4 was a little over the top. My apologies to Peter. He has done, and continues to do, a number of things in and for the gay community and the District in general.

However his endorsement, like mine, is hardly news worthy. The Fenty war on transgendered people is the sort of hard news that deserves coverage.

Mike, the story Bob mentions is by no means over. We are still having to fight it.

LOL! Well I clearly haven't broken ranks. For the record, I have volunteered to hand out literature for Jack Evans on Tuesday, but I am not on his campaign staff.

Still, cover a real issue, like the dozens of groups and hundreds of people that are objecting to the Fenty Administrations' proposed rulemaking to curtail the protections of transgender people in the Human Rights Act.

Peter is not a major gay activist. He isn't even a minor one. He's on no one's short list of people to call when you need to get something done.

He is good at self promotion. I'll give him that.

Why news?

(1) Longtime Evans supporter who switched.
(2) First major gay activist to break ranks.
(3) Rosenstein is a major Fenty supporter; Fenty is a major Jack supporter. Ergo, PR is breaking with Fenty in choosing to not endorse Jack.

Obviously, Bob, you don't want to "help to make the District of Columbia the world class city we all know it can be."

Why is the endorsement of one person news? Peter's endorsement carries no weight, no votes, no dollars, and no volunteers other than his personal contribution.

Peter sunk Mayor Williams' in GLAA questionnaire a few years ago with his inept understanding of the issues. He swung the Stein endorsement to Linda Cropp by speaking for Fenty in such a divisive way that only hard core supporters could vote for Fenty.

He continues his attack campaign against our community's friends here.

Jack will be re-elected next week by a large margin and Peter will be even less relevent than he is now. His endorsement isn't news, or even interesting.
