i applied for a passport two years ago, and had it expedited and got it within 3 weeks.

my little brother applied for his last month, not-expedited, and it took 3 days.

what's this story worth....probably nothing...

AB:
glad to hear everything worked out for your kid in these dealings with Homeland Security. have fun in Bora Bora.

however, my toddler, sweet little Osama Radovan Barack McKenna (we call him "Chip"), is still waiting to get his passport. i'm sure the paperwork must've been lost. we're vacationing at Six Flags Over Largo.

but, again, good for you and your government...

I applied for a passport about exactly one year ago, in the thick of the "Passport Delay Crisis." (This was for a trip in November, so given the 12-14 week projected time I was kinda pushing it.)

My passport arrived within three weeks of applying, probably because I also went to a post office (the big one, across from Union Station) to take care of it. I guess the "crisis" is/was a little overstated. Still, it pays to get things like this done in advance as much as possible.
