Some pictures of Chief Lanier show her wearing eagle insignia like an army colonel. Others show her with the four stars of a general. Is this militarization of the police a good trend? Isn't it a little ridiculous to equate the chief of police position with that of a four star general? Wouildn't a badge that simply says "Chief" or a system of symbols not based on the military be more civil and appropriate?
