*Ugh, solid Keith Olbermann profile in the New Yorker. The “ugh” is for my conflicted, uncomfortable state of mind while reading the piece. Great writing. Abrasive, frightful character.
*It’s summer. It’s about time someone covered the heat from this angle.
*And speaking of the year’s most leisurely period, it’s getting rather late to book your vacation. The Atlantic Monthly has a travel suggestion that might still have some vacancies.

I think the only truly worthy candidates are Gwen Ifill and Chuck Todd. The rest are either too opinionated (Matthews), too old to be anything but a caretaker(Mitchell and Brokaw), or too boring (Grego….sorry I just snoozed off writing his name).
Between Gwen and Chuck, I would prefer Gwen. She’s got more gravitas and she’s being hosting a show of high caliber for a while already. The diversity gain would obviously be a nice plus.
Chuck would be a bold choice too. It would be a big generational shift, but hey, Tim was only 41 when he took over. He doesn’t have the gravitas or interview experience of Ifill or Russert, but he definitely knows his stuff. I just wish he’d shave that damn goatee.
