More bad news on the local bookselling front, following the closure earlier this year of Candida's and Karibu: Olsson's is closing its Penn Quarter outlet. From a store e-mail: "After 15 years in The Lansburgh building on 7th Street NW, the Penn Quarter branch of Olsson's will close on Friday, June 27, 2008. The landlord has other plans for the space. We would like to thank the many loyal customers who have shopped with us throughout the years. It has been a wonderful experience to serve this community, and we look forward to continuing the relationship with you at our five other locations." ---Mark Athitakis

...so in the District that leaves only the Dupont outlet? WTF?

Oh, thank god. Maybe the Penn Quarter will finally get its fifth tapas place. It's probably too much to hope that another Starbucks will open there.

I would be more devastated by this news if the Olsson's book store at Penn Quarter actually stocked some, you know, books.
