Take You Out to the Ballgame

If you can stand the heat, get out of your kitchen tonight and head to Banneker Field, where the DC Grays of the Clark Griffith League play their home opener against the Vienna Senators. Banneker’s field isn’t perfect, but its Georgia Avenue setting is. So’s the admission price: Free. First pitch is at 7 p.m.

 If it’s been a while since you’ve seen college kids play ball, or you’ve never seen them play, be prepared to be stunned by the talent level. Yet odds are no more than one or none of ‘em, damn good as they surely are, will ever see the majors.
