DCist finds that the church parking issue in Shaw is still going strong. There’s more from the great people of WJLA:

“Neighbors say someone affiliated with Lincoln Congregational Temple has begun putting out traffic cones on Saturday nights to reserve parking spaces along 11th Street for parishioners. The trouble is, say neighbors, that the spaces are in-demand public parking.

Near Metropolitan Baptist Church, the cones and signs discourage parking in public spaces hours after the last service has ended.”

And we thought this story was an old one. What’s next? Church-hired traffic cops?

New Columbia Heights reports that Mayorga has added a juice bar and a salad bar. This is huge news for Mayorga patrons since the shop’s eats generally look pretty uninspired. I’m all for a muffin just not one that looks like it sat under lights for the better part of a day. In fact, the food all kinda looks like the crap you get at the airport because you have nothing else to do but wait for your flight. Isn’t Mayorga now at BWI? Yup. Oh, I rant–but I’m still gonna check out the salad bar and their new juice bar.

Ward Six Councilmember Tommy Wells writes up his own take on the pedestrian safety report. He promises to use the report to address safety needs in his neighborhoods. Make sure to scroll down on his blog for updates on the Rumsey pool fixes and the Harris Teeter opening on Potomac Ave. Since the Teeter opened in Adams Morgan, I’ve noticed two things: I’m over its cheap subs [OK--there's nothing for us vegetarians except cheese and iceburg lettuce], and the checkout lines are still pretty quick [which is awesome]. And the Teeter has just about the nicest grocery store employees.

Upset the Setup has a show at the Velvet Lounge on Wednesday. By the looks of things, it could be a real strong night for local hip-hop fans.
