Skipper: Arts earmarks are like crack. First it's Washington Ballet, then Arena, then Harman Hall, then Ford's Theatre.

If Council members are such art experts, let's make them dance Swan Lake before they propose more arts pork.

Mayor Fenty's pal Mike Bloomberg and the NY City Council quit arts pork in favor of competitive grants. It's not just fair, it means arts lobbyists no longer waste the time of NY City Council members.

Please! Come November, no one will remember or care about this $10 million grant. Look to see how much money the Washington Ballet has gotten over the past few years. Look to see why it got so much money. Look to see what ramifications ensued.

The $10 Million grant to Ford's Theatre seems to be sailing right through, despite widespread public rage. Council members either have a death-wish or don't plan to run for re-election.
