Reese Witherspoon to Attend Breast Cancer Walk

Hey, D.C.ers, get ready for all those people walking around town in pink garb. The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer blankets the streets this Saturday and Sunday.

And according to the walk’s organizers, “award-winning actress” Reese Witherspoon will be “on hand.”

Well, “on hand” is fine and all, but is she going to pound the pavement like those thousands of other die-harders whose devotion to the cause gets measured in miles? I mean, think about it: Walkers get a choice of walking a marathon (26.2 miles) or a marathon and a half (39.3) over the course of a weekend.

According to a press release, however, Witherspoon will “support walkers at points along Sunday’s route.”

Hell, even I’ve done that in years past. Yeah, go get’em, I’ve yelled to various walkers in years past.

So what does Witherspoon got that I don’t?

    A divorce from Ryan Phillippe…?

“So what does Witherspoon got that I don’t?”

    An advertising contract with Avon!

Reese is a simple woman: no fee - no charity work!

  3. 20/20 Cynic Says:

Also makes you wonder how much $$ money of the Walk donations goes to pay for her Avon contract. Even though they probably say that all funds go to the charity (yeah, riiiight) Reese ain’t doing the “Ambassador” gig for free. Avon will be paying for her and her guests entire stay (hotel, limos, meals, entertainment) for her weekend appearance. When she was in NY for her 2 hour UN “appearance” she was there for about 5 days spending most of the time shopping. She also went to a Broadway matinee performance (Avon probably paid for those tickets as part of the entertainment package) and she was texting on her cellphone almost the whole time and then left at intermission.

    Big mistake, Avon. BIG mistake.

  4. Lava Says:

What a bunch of jealous twats, what are your lazy, useless asses doing this weekend?

  5. 20/20 Cynic Says:

Lava- don’t confuse reality with jealousy. Just because people see things for what they really are doesn’t mean they’re envious. sheesh.

  6. Lava Says:

20/20 cynic: Silly, over heated fangirl jealous that Reese took their man.

And do you expect me to believe that the posters here know all about what Reese did in NY in March?? I doubt it, but yiu, obsessed with Jake and Reese know.

Why don’t you do something usefull like sign uo for the walk? More healthy than smearing someone you don’t know every chance you get.

And no, most people don’t see it your way, I supect that you are commenter 1 and 2 as well, same nasty, juvenile tone.

Let’s see, Reese is famous, pretty, rich and has a full life, you on the other hand…..

  7. unimpressed in VA Says:

Hey I’m no silly overheated fangirl and trust me my man is at work. If Reese Witherspoon has taken him I will be very surprised.

I do have a problem with celebrity product endorsement deals being disguised as charity work even by someone as pretty and perfect as Elle Woods.

    Sorry if that offends you.

  8. sock puppet Says:

I am not Lily, nor am I 20/20 Cynic, or even unimpressed in VA. I am, though, a 20/20 cynic and unimpressed in Virginia. What’s nasty about the first remark?

So, Lava, are you signed up and walking in this charity event?

  9. 20/20 Cynic Says:

Me on the other hand: Successful, quite comfortable and happily married. Not a fangirl of anyone. Not juvenile, almost 50 years old, well-educated, well-read, well-travelled (including New York in March) and extremely well-connected.

As much as you would like to believe otherwise, Reese Witherspoon is not what she seems to the outside world. “Being on hand” for the Avon Walk, getting paid for charity appearances, having the charity sponsor her leisure time activities (and not behaving appropriately while doing so) - all of which ultimately drains the pockets of the truly needy - is a distasteful aspect of Reese (and others) of which the public needs to be aware.

  10. Wrong Way Says:

Methinks Lava needs to go back to the ReeseCanDoNoWrong fangurl site!

    you mean: http://www.imnotobsessed.com/2007/04/19/love-it-or-hate-it-reese-witherspoon/

One thing less: you lack of a good heart.you are abnormal. Reese are respected by mojority. sure, her successes in career and in life make you so uncomfortable that feel compelled to find every chance to attack her.

  13. Ginny Says:

LOL it’s abnormal not to worship Reese folks! Do not point out any flaw this celebrity may have. Her normal fan will attack YOU.
