Give Susan Glasser credit: She was very solicitous of senior reporters like Tom Ricks and Karen DeYoung. Why? Well, they were institutions in and of themselves, and therefore could not be attacked head on. With lesser folk and people she perceived to be a threat, well -- a very different approach, as has been well documented here and in other media gossip sites.

What I find most disturbing about the debate over Glasser's time as AME is the assertion by everyone that, not matter what you think of her, that she was "brilliant." Was her rapid rise at Roll Call and The Post a sign of her innate brilliance? Or were they a measure of how easily senior people at both places were fooled by a bullying, dismissive personality? Debate away folks.
