Sorry but I can’t speak to the availability of doughnuts either one way or the other. I’m as new to this as you are.

Dave, from the way you describe your condition, you may want to forgo the doughnuts. In fact, you may want to check ahead to make sure there will be a RN on duty and oxygen for those that require it.

i’m gassed just thinking about completing the Hanson One Miler.

Hey Dave, since you obviously feel that the one-mile walk isn’t enough of a challenge for your bad self, I think you should vary it to make it more interesting. Next week, I hope to see you on the Hanson walk; but for you, it should be a Hanson Hop. That’s right; you should do the whole one-mile walk route hopping on one leg. I’ll be there with a camera.

good questions from both of you! but, i’ve got no time to provide answers, not with my training regimen for the Hanson One Miler.

i don’t wanna burn out early, since the event isn’t til next week, so for today’s session i’m going to try to finish a route that covers 440 yards.

It’s a consciousness-raising move; not a walk-a-thon! They do it before each show. So far, they’ve done about 60 of them or so throughout the country. Yes, everybody is invited.

And Dave, do you really think that if they walked considerably more miles, that would do more to wipe out poverty and AIDS? Because that’s what your last sentence seems to imply.

They walk a mile before each of their shows. It’s just a gesture to try to get their fans (or anyone) to feel that they can be part of something, and to inspire them to go out and seek their own ways to make a difference. I think it’s nice.

Don’t criticize until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes, McKenna. Maybe it’ll be more effective than Jackson Browne’s “Standing Around for Solar Power” campaign in ‘76.
