I do love Jonas brothers’ music and performances and I always do my best to attend their concerts. But I find that tickets sometimes are not reasonable. This summer they will perform and I was wondering if I could see the guys on stage because as I’ve said sometimes I can’t afford some prices. But, fortunately a friend has recommended me a site where to compare ticket prices for free before booking and this way I can look for the cheapest prices offered.

"my husband fights for our Country’s freedom..."

A great many military jobs, even oversaes ones, are desk jobs & working in supplies depots, as cooks, mechanics, NOT in the line of fire. I say that as the daughter, sister-in-law & aunt of veterans.
The woman who wrote that original smarmy craiglist post should be slapped. The person who wrote the reply about the cost & price of war got it right.

Seriously tho, I took my kid to the Egg Roll once & only once 8 years ago. I never went back for 2 reasons: 1) I won't step into that place while Chimpy is shitting all over it, defiling it; and 2) the egg roll is WAY overrated. Overcrowded, long lines everywhere for every activity, pain in the ass to get tickets, the majority of them are for admission the last half of it, well after the few celebs & politicans have left (they only are there the first 45 mins. or so), you cannot bring in ANY food or drink, and consequently there is nothing to eat or drink there, except if you stand in a long line for 1-2 pieces of chocolate. The whole exercise is a huge waste of time! If you're going because you REALLY must see the White House grounds, then contact your Congressperson for tour tix, or wait in the line for the spring or fall White House Gardens tour. It's a lot less crowded & the wait in line nowhere as long, plus the grounds are a lot prettier with flowers, less trampled by screaming brats...

WOW, this is completly true. I think I speak for everyone when I say we are completly grateful for the work her husband does in the military and the sacrifice the family has to go through, but to say that just to get tickets?! That's just a little too weird to be asking for tickets when other people here, who might be doctors or shoemakers, have been waiting for the tickets. Thats just a little too screwed up for me.

Dang, you all are harsh. All the poor women was trying to do is score some JoBro and Bunny tix! I am sure there were lots of pleas for tix , true and some not so true. Was she doing the right thing by using her dh's military status for empathy? Who are you to judge? IMO every child has the same right to roll an egg at the White House, next year they should just let the kiddies in and have the parents wait at the gate.

Vic never said it better. I am a former Air Force brat who grew to be in the Army. I am sickened by that woman's ad. Many Easter roll tickets do go to military families, often those who have had actual harrowing events happen to them. It's as if she is saying those people belong behind her.

Sick. She did deserve the response she got. And I'm sure the families who were there deserved a reprieve from her.

As a retired military officer, I used to joke that the one downside of being an officer was being married to an officer's wife.

While my dear wife was able to keep a level head on her shoulders, many of these other brazen "birches" notoriously "wore the rank" of their spouses -- and in so many other misguided ways and behaviors -- proved to be detrimental to their spouse's career interests.

This woman deserved to be put in her place -- at the back of the line -- with all of the other people who had equally valid (or better) interests in attending the event. The trouble is, she was probably still sleeping while the line was forming -- and it was her poor husband who was sent out at midnight to go stand and line for the tickets. And when he failed, she decided to take matters into her own hands -- as shown here -- to the lasting embarrassment of her and her family.

Regardless of what you think about the ongoing wars -- and the military profession in general -- I think we can all agree that this woman is an embarrassment to her husband and his profession of service to others.

Mr. McKenna's post leaves out three short paragraphs from the reply "Military Wife" received when she retracted her original request. They are at craigslist and show that her respondent also wrote her:

"I do not blame your husband for the hundreds of thousands of non-combatants that US soldiers have killed in the past 5 years. I blame the US civilian commanders.

"I do think it is shameful that soldiers who wanted to help their country only help Bush malign us all as he continues his destruction.

"Also, military families should be angry and ashamed of their service, since the Pentagon SO misuses it."

bravo. you do a job, you're not any more entitled than anyone else.

if you're in the military, should you get everything for free? no. gratitude, yes, but handouts, no.
