Fuego/Frio: Flu Epidemics and Whatnot!
With Ruth Samuelson taking her first vacation in nearly three decades, Erik Wemple must be a little lonely. Good thing he found his comfort zone: Yelling about the weather, of course!
Got a story you’d like to see discussed on the next Fuego/Frío? Wondering how much money we’re spending on glue stick? Let us know in the comments.

Is Fuego/Frío always so formal? I am wondering about the be-tied editor. I mean, shouldn’t the web video be all pimped out for the youngsters?

Excellent question and point. My only response is that I wanted to show the youngsters that I respect them and take FF very seriously. If I tried to “pimp out,” as you suggest, I think it’d come off as affected–a stretch. Thanks very much for viewing.

Erik,
WaPo’s magazine piece claims Solf started photographing these memorials in 2003. How is it you found a piece about them from ‘99? Also, the other pieces you mention didn’t show very much of his photography, whereas the WaPo magazine did. Just because something has been written about doesn’t mean that’s the end of the public’s need or desire for information on the subject.
In other words, either offer constructive and professional critiques or shut up. The City Paper used to be an alt weekly. Now it’s just a bunch of kids playing journalist (except loose lips, which rocks), and it’s sad as hell that you won’t approach your profession and your peers at other publications with respect. Get a life.

Thanks for putting this on something besides YouTube. There’s a bit of a problem with it where I am.
And how about pre-applying some adhesive to the stories? I keep thinking Wemple’s about to head butt me.
