To The Poor Schmuck Whose Car Blew Up Last Night:

Car Boom

Sorry.

That was the scene last night around 11 after a manhole exploded on 14th and Clifton St. in Columbia Heights. The explosion knocked out power in the neighborhood–even the emergency lights were down in my building–and beat the hell out of an unfortunately parked Jeep.

I waited around to see if anyone would claim the car, but nobody had come forward by the time I decided to navigate the pitch black stairwell by the light of my cellphone. Which means there’s a remote chance that someone walked outside this morning ready to drive to work and found this:

Car Scorched
