If it was a woman's hand instead, would be ok for the guys to protest? Does everything have to be so politically correct?

I really want to believe this is a prank, but it probably isn't. I wonder what Charlotte Allen thinks of it.

Why not leave the Big Mitt in situ but apply a nice shade of nail polish? Something red and sparkly should get the message across. Five gallons should do it.

This protest letter against the giant hand is the biggest waste of time, ever. If you're offended by what is essentially a goofy, oversized sculpture, then you really shouldn't leave the safe confines of your own home. Put the same hand in the Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, and the same complainers might find it a work of genius. A more pressing issue regarding bias and oppression of women would be street harassment in DC - why not direct their energies in the direction of fighting against that truly offensive phenomenon. Now, if the hand was flipping everyone off in the lobby, that would be another story. He he he.

Who's to say that's a man's hand? As a person (one woman, all) with large strong hands, I am offended that these seven persons would equate large hands with maleness. Surely these seven persons have traditionally "feminine" hands and can just call us more-generously-handed women "manly". But if you don't get it, you just don't get it.
