Ballots: Get ‘Em While You Can, Part II

Bill O’Field, who did finally call back, reports “pockets of record turnout” today and, yes, two precincts did actually run out of ballots: the 121st at Drayer Elementary in Southeast and the 10th at Horace Mann Community Center in Northwest.

The one touch-screen machine installed at each polling place (used primarily for the blind, who follow audio prompts) saved the day until the Board of Elections and Ethics could run more ballots out to the two precincts.

Several other precincts called in regarding low-ballot supplies, but the BOEE was able to get out there before things got dire.

On the whole, said O’Field around 4 p.m., “it’s just great that people are voting….Presidential primaries, traditionally, have the lowest voter turnout of all elections in D.C.”
