The beep is probaby a rat thing...There is some sort of electronic device that supposedly keeps rats away and I'm going to bet that's what your beep problem is.

I agree with Jamie about the noise and high crime stuff. If you shouldn't complain about that stuff. But the recess thing just threw me. The kids arrived from nowhere. I don't mind being woken up by a man-made rooster call. I would mind a high-pitched beep!

i think that if your apartment isn't adjacent to a school (or even on the same block as a school), you shouldn't have to investigate whether school kids convene on the parking lot during recess.

This may be the only time I will ever agree with Mr. Rees, troll extraordinaire.

If your property manager was even remotely aware of these things, all I can say is caveat emptor. Should they tell you you're on a bus route, near a school, near a night club? In a high crime area? Should they be aware of exactly what construction is going on within earshot of every building they maintain?

You didn't do your homework when you rented this place. Maybe next time you'll check out the neighborhood a little before you sign a lease.

The bugs are the only thing you have a right to complain about. Have you asked the property manager to send an exterminator?

You want annoying? I'll give you annoying. Except I own this house so I can't leave. My next door neighbor has installed something about 4 months ago that emits a high-pitched beep every 10 seconds. I can hear it almost everywhere in my house. It's not loud but audible and slowly driving me insane. I have left a note, no response. He's rarely there (the house is being renovated) so I can't easily talk to him. I doubt I have any legal recourse since it's not incredibly loud, but it's like having a smoke detector on low battery going all the time. Except it beeps more often.
