Huge Fare Increases Approved By Metro
Fuck. The Board just approved the largest fare increases in its history. Read the story here. No word on whether discounts will be awarded when your bus driver kills a pedestrian or two.

You want cheap fares, or you want Metro to have enough money to hire qualified bus drivers?

I think you can still have cheap fares and quality drivers.It's not like the drivers have to have major specialized training.

You don't think driving a huge vehicle all day long through busy streets - some that are doubles - requires any specialized training? Come on. It's not like driving a U-haul, and even that's kind of intimidating for most people.
But regardless my point was that there's not much to be gained by bitching about fare increases. Metro isn't a for-profit operation. Would you rather raise taxes to pay the shortfall?
