I doesnt look like the Fairfax one is happening - I went by last night and the building that they were working on is back up for lease. Also, it's not listed on the website as coming soon. And, worst of all, the previous VA location, in Norfolk, is now unlisted on the website as well. The Norfold one was owned by the people who were to open the Fairfax one, I wonder if they have gone totally away?

So Fairfax County being open for business to businesses like Fatburger, which has heavy investment/ownership by prominent African Americans like Queen Latifah and Magic Johnson, is a bad thing? Shame on Fairfax County! That's so Un-American! Fatburger is not a new chain popping up; it's been around for 50 years in California, Nevada and other western states, and is migrating outward, in a similar manner as our region's own home grown version, Five Guys.

Okay, I'll bite. What evidence does this provide about what's wrong with Fairfax? That it's full of people who enjoy off-brand fast food? Or people that don't like hamburgers made from frozen patties? Or how about: it's full of people who like heart-clogging junk food. Of course that CERTAINLY isn't true of any other jurisdiction in this area, especially not the District. Which, last time I checked, was brimming with greasy fried-everything dives and corporate junk food franchises. And which has the highest rate of childhood obesity in the country.

the better question is why do we eat so much of this crap? it's naive to think that the rest of the world doesn't partake in fried potatoes and hamburgers.

with mcdonalds, burger king, wendy's, five guys, et al, it's not surprising that new chains would pop up; there's profit to be had off of our gluttony.
