The pro-gun folks' fundamental point is true: guns are safe as long as they are not in the hands of the insane, evil, or stupid. This proves the point that DC must never allow gun owernership.

I am so tickled by the pro-gun folks. They always come out with these meaningless statistics. I remember reading a press release of some kind from one of the guys behind Texas' concealed carry law, saying how how successful it was because handgun homicides had decreased in the years since the law was enacted. Of course, two minutes of Google research showed that the same type of crime had decreased nationwide in the same time period - and in fact, the decrease in Texas was not as much as the trend nationally.

Of course there are so many other factors it doesn't mean a thing one way or the other -- but the statistic he cited, when viewed in context, would seem to demonstrate just the opposite effect (if anything).

It seems that the pro-gun folks are either hopelessly stupid themselves, or simply depend on their audience to be stupid enough to believe the faulty statistics they always cite.
