Both Clinto portraits–him and her–are done by the same black artist. And are really among the best in the collection.

Good Question! Aligns with the fact that the NGA has only had ONE show in its history by a black artist… certainly Lawrence’s place in art history, as well as Cuba’s Wifredo Lam, merit an NGA show; not because they were black, but because they were important artists.

Lam was a commie, so I doubt that he’ll ever be in the WH…

PS - Kriston: Was the “scribe” thing meant as an insult? It kinda feels that way dude, and my feelings are now sorta hurt…
