I have heard from two teachers who attended the event that the breakout sessions were EXCEPTIONAL. This is the review from two really smart, somewhat jaded, multi-year DCPS educators -- both of whom objected to needing to attend the rally on days when they should have been putting their classrooms together.

The one-hour Differentiated Instruction was "the best teacher development training I've had since I joined DCPS" says one. Real world examples from someone with real classroom experience.

I totally agree with DC Teacher Chic! On the second day less than 500 educators came out. What about "What's Best for Students", Rhee favorite mantra!

Being forced to attend this conference was a huge slap in the face. Teachers did not have time to set up their classrooms. As a result, almost the entire staff of my school was in the building all day Saturday to get things set up. The conference was long and redundant, and could have EASILY been contained in one day (instead of two).
