Someone at WaPo Pranks Examiner

charles-mansonbookingphoto.jpg

In September 2006, someone working from a Washington Post computer changed the Wikipedia entry for the Washington Examiner. Under the slot for owner of this young local publication, the person inserted the following change:

—Delete Philip Anschutz

—Insert Charles Manson

The entry was later changed back to the correct owner, Anschutz.

This killer information comes from WikiScanner, the new and now-swamped web site that tracks changes to Wikipedia by IP address. The Manson riff is the most interesting Post-derived change that we found in a quick inventory of the list. But we’ll keep on mining it.

  1. j-nacchio Says:

The difference between the two is that the cops would never charge Phil with all of those murders, given how much money and clout he has.

  2. Murder on Sesame Street Says:

Isn’t Charles Manson Peter Nickle’s halg brother?
