America’s Most Annoying Writer
Quick, finish that last memo---Chuck Klosterman is in town tonight! He's reading and signing Chuck Klosterman IV: A Decade of Curious People and Dangerous Ideas.
I'm almost tempted to go just to see who is adoring fans are these days. Surely no one from the Gawker Media empire. (Note that even the Express makes a dig at him in their write-up.)
As with any easy-to-hate writer (partially because he's often just wrong, partially because he seems to have such a thin skin), I do really like some of his stuff, like his profile of Gilbert Arenas for the New York Times' Play magazine a few months ago. Until I saw there was a correction appended...gosh Chuck, don't you know the difference between a hypobaric chamber and a hyperbaric chamber?

Mark Ames's blistering critique of the Klosterman ethos, originally published in the New York Press (http://www.nypress.com/print.cfm?content_id=8768) is one of the cruelest, funniest pieces of prose I have ever encountered.
