to imgoph and Mark in Dupont... Mark Jenkins is close to godhead. His regular writings in the City Paper when I first moved here -- pieces in the late 1980s and into the early 1990s -- influenced me greatly. Plus, his cover story proposing _the_ (a) "Purple Line" which ran in the early 1990s. Anyway, I'm down with this. If you want send me an email (rlaymandc@yahoo.com) and I'll send you something I wrote in 12/2002 about H Street specifically, back when we were working on the H St. strategic plan. And Renamer--I'm with you. I hate the term "atlas district". Hate it. It's not historically accurate. But Joe Englert thinks it will resonate better with new audiences. I keep wishing that Mark's old cityscape column would run once again.
