MPD gets a lot of calls this time of year for gunshots. Many turn out to be fireworks. It just increases the call load and response time. It's nice to see they're testing the "shotspotter" system.

Perhaps rather than pushing for more laws, the police could get out of the cars and start enforcing existing laws.

maybe we should push for the DC council to pass laws that would crack down once and for all on those who perpetrate these crimes. if you do something with a gun, you get locked up for a good long time. no more mr. nice guy approach. show that we mean it when we are going to remove crooks from the street. i don't think a crack-down could hurt.
