Yippie Pie Yay
Longtime readers of the reports submitted by Washington City Paper's Restaurant Raters know that it's not unusual for a rater to bust out a superlative. A rater who visited 2 Amys last week, for example, claims that the restaurant "offers the best pizza I have encountered in DC."
You can sign up to add your two cents on 2 Amys here, but if you haven't been there lately, where do you head for the best pizza in town?

Manny & Olga's

VACE
12:06 pm
Vace: Too salty.
12:14 pm
I'd travel from anywhere to Manny & Olga's for late night and i live on the Hill. New on the scene: The proscuitto, fig and honey pizza at Vapiano is WICKED tasty and under 10 bucks.
12:32 pm
Hell yes, Louise. Have you ever tried ordering Manny's to the Hill? I bet they'd do it if you tossed in an extra buck or two.
When you order, ALWAYS say you have a coupon for the Large + Extra Large deal.

Vace too salty? You're full of shit, Delaney. That is an outstanding pie. And you're holding up M&O as a paragon of pizza excellence? Laughable!
2:02 pm
I'm telling you, D-Bone, start eating Vace on a weekly basis and your saltometer will overload. (Not to mention your RUDEometer--would you like a frown with your salty pie?)
Manny's rules, and it has the most delicious, freshest veggies. Just ask my friend Louise.
3:04 pm
vace when i'm so(m)ber
mama ilardos when i'm drunk
jumbo slice when i'm really fucked up. seriously. i actually dig those things.
3:08 pm
Your friend Louise, clearly, is a fool. Are we talking about the same Manny & Olga's here?
3:35 pm
Louise: Don't suffer abuse from this Wolfgang Shmuck. Type back! Stand up for Manny's!
DeBonis: One of the great things about Manny's is that it's never the same, really. The main variable is its cohesiveness--sometimes it stays together, sometimes it goes crazy. It's always good, though, particularly the veggies.
Where's the beef?
3:41 pm
I dropped a lot of money at M&O over my college years on bad cheesesteaks and even worse pizza. Why? Because there was nothing better. Dominos? Philadelphia Pizza Co.? Cappucinos? That's my beef! Luckily that place up on Wisconsin by Holy Rood Cemetery opened up when I was a senior. That place was pretty good. Don't know if it's still open
4:00 pm
First you call my support of Manny's laughable, now you acknowledge its out-and-out dominance in Georgetown. Castles made of salt...
4:03 pm
Where is the love for Pizzeria Paradiso's Atomica, a pizza so hot it will not only knock your socks off, but set them alight and throw the flaming remnants to the crowd while playing a speed metal version of "Volare"?
I was about to sneer at the idea of using a Jumbo Slice for anything other than oiling a bike chain, but then I remembered: In the UK, the food carts open when the clubs let out specialize in chips covered in shredded white cheddar and about a pint of garlic mayonnaise. Sober, you'd hurl at the sight of it. Drunk, it was freakin' ambrosial. Someone needs to do a story about eateries that survive only on the fucked-up palates of the chemically-altered. In Adams-Morgan, a place serving only one dish -- say, fries smothered in Velveeta, bacon, sour cream, and chocolate chips -- could probably make a killing.
4:08 pm
My point: How dare you crucify Vace on a cross of Manny & Olga's!
4:18 pm
Aw shoot, EVERYone says Vace is the best. It's the Ben's Chili Bowl of Washington pizza, which is demented considering they don't even deliver so you have to go to foofy Cleveland Park or Bethesda to get it. Foofy!
4:28 pm
ben's chili bowl: so overrated
m & o's: sucks. who judges pizza on the veggies? its like calorie counting beer.

"Better ingredients: better pizza." -- Papa John
Are you calling Papa John a liar, "g"?
5:26 pm
That's right, you smack that hater down. Papa John don't like no lip. Papa John just likes keepin' it real -- real tasty, with fresh sliced peppers, vine-ripened tomatoes, and dough that's never frozen.
That's what keeps the bitchez happy.
Next order of chicken strips is on me, Delaney.

1:15 pm
Wow, gotta side with Mike here. I eat Manny's every night when I get off work, and all I can ever think about is how I'd rather have a different slice of pizza in my hand. It's all about Vace, Armand's, Alberto's, and 2 Amys.
3:01 pm
If I could have Manny's every day I would be in heaven. Alberto's: too crunchy, burny, greasy. Armand's: too doughy, too tangy! Manny's: just right.
1:51 am
Manny & Olga's Calzone are better than sex.
