I totally disagree! Saying one walks like a New Yorker is a sly way to imply one walks like a sailor - a recent jargon, you see. Thus, Jess & Kim have gotten hold of the wrong end of the stick.

don't aspire to be a new yorker, it sucks here now. be happy you're in d.c. i would trade places with you in a second to get out of this rapidly homogenizing moneypit. but sadly my work and my significant other force me to stay here.

I totally agree, Jess! That's one of the few lines that actually feels like a compliment. I think most women secretly want to be Manhattanites. I love D.C. as well, but if I were in NYC, and some guy told me I look like a Washingtonian, I would not be pleased.
