Parsing the Win: Nats 2, Braves 0. The number of the day is eight. That’s how many batters Jason Bergmann struck out in the first six innings. It was also, for the second day in a row, the eighth inning when Washington’s bats came alive. Ronnie Belliard singled, bringing in Chris Snelling and advancing Felipe Lopez to second. Then Ryan Zimmerman singled, bringing Lopez home.

Barry Svrluga Adverbs of the Day: “finally, mercifully”
