Re: Your last 3-4- paragraphs. You make the mistake most ‘writers’ make, that style = length. Being concise is a style most readers appreciate — at least this one does.

if i had a nickel for every time i saw a new story length dictat from editors, i could have retired ages ago. these have been coming down the pike since forever. they last about a week and then everyone goes back to emptying their notebooks into every story.

Do the AMEX , Orbitz and those annoying Economist pop-up ads that WP chokes their readers on count as NutGrafs?

So I am assuming this applies to any journalist with the exception of Woodward?

That way they can continue to show us we need to buy his book, not tell us to.
