E-List Roundup
Every Tuesday and Thursday, we run down what’s going on in local Internet discussion groups.

The upper Northwest neighborhood spies intrigue in the upcoming November election for Ward 3 councilmember. On Oct. 9, poster msilver1957 reports that none of the Ward 3 Democratic primary candidates have come out to endorse primary winner Mary Cheh: “Is this lack of support from fellow Democrats sour grapes?” they ask. “Also will the anti-development Democrats do the unusual and vote for an anti-development Republican like Theresa Conroy?” Another poster serves up a top eight reasons to vote against Cheh. The faux Letterman pads out their reasons by twice listing the candidate’s insistence on retaining her teaching gig if elected. Inevitably primary loser Jonathan Rees gets mentioned. For at least one poster, he still is someone to fear. Which brought a reply from msilver: “Rees did not win but you still act afraid of him as if he was a creature from the movie “Night of the Living Dead” and he is going to come and get you.”

School Board candidate Marc Borbely has found himself in the message board’s cross hairs. One poster alleges that the aspiring do-gooder has “pursued zoning exceptions in order to get kickbacks from businesses when the ANC voted down the exceptions. Several abandoned public spaces in our neighborhood which were slated for renovations, remain abandoned buildings because of Marc’s grandstanding.” Borbely responded with demands for a retraction or evidence proving these alleged “kickbacks.” The original poster soon conceded, writing: “True-I have no proof that you have received kickbacks. I apologize for passing a rumor I heard as fact.”

Some people are going to be new to the Jonathan Rees phenomena. If you’re one of those people, you may want to catch up on Rees by reading these blogs. The DC-area bloggers have done great work reporting on Rees.

What they say is all true. And this is only the tip of the Rees iceberg.

I think your blog about Rees is great and just affirms your ongoing war with him Mr. Austermuhle.
October 11th, 2006 at 10:41 pm
These links about Rees I notice are done by your gay lovers Mr. Austermuhle.
Give us some links about Rees that are written by lincensed pros and them we might believe Rees is off kilt but otherwise, it is a pathetic attempt on your part Mr. Austermuhle to attack Mr. Rees for exposing your covert homosexuality and ties to the communist party.
October 11th, 2006 at 10:46 pm
I think Rees has done a superb job of proving about Martin Austermuhle three things and they are:
1. Austermuhle is an ex-convict;
2. Austermuhle is a Communist; and
3. Austermuhle is a homosexual.
There is no disputing the foregoing facts and because Rees exposed these facts, Austermuhle and his gay gangster squad has been pouncing on Rees and everybody else has to put up with it.

This is my favorite posting over on Rees’ blog.
It rings so true.
Rees does a great job of showing DC why gay civil rights is wrong for America when you have covert pedophiles like Foley, Austermuhle, Linkins and Summersgill all apparent suggested as such by Rees.

TAKE THE TIME TO KNOW THE REAL MARTIN AUSTERMUHLE!
Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000. Appeal denial forces USG senator Martin Austermuhle to resign. By Heather Cook. Collegian Staff Writer.
After losing a senator last night, the Undergraduate Student Government Senate postponed one of two actions that may prevent the same thing from happening again. Martin Austermuhle, former USG town senator, was forced to resign his position because Vice President of Student Affairs Bill Asbury denied his appeal of a Judicial Affairs disorderly conduct sanction.
Austermuhle was kicked off campus for a full school year!
Wow is this same self-righteous DCist Martin who started a race riot outside a pizza restaurant while attending Pennsylvania State University?
Letter to the Editor
USG town senator should resign following riot arrest

I find this letter very difficult to draft, but I believe it to be my best course of action regarding the events that occurred in the early morning hours of July 16. The riot, which it has repeatedly been called, has once again cast a dark shadow upon the Arts Festival weekend for Penn State and the greater State College communities.
A large group outside of Acme Pizza on Beaver Avenue is nothing new on Saturday nights. But what makes this weekend special is that 15 people were arrested, including Martin Austermuhle, an Undergraduate Student Government town senator.
Martin and I have shared the pleasure of knowing each other through our studies as international politics majors. We both have studied in the same lectures and have often debated one another, both on and off campus. As members of the Penn State United Nations organization, we have come to appreciate each other’s different political and societal views concerning the present and future of our globalized world. Martin and I even joked around on Allen Street a couple of weeks ago when the NGA Conference was being held here in State College. Though I do not always agree with his opinions, I openly and honestly believe he is entitled to whatever he believes in and should follow that agenda. I even applaud Mr. Austermuhle for launching the Students for Accountability and Reform and its continued quest of helping those in the most depressed areas of the world.
Martin Austermuhle was once again elected in the most recent USG elections as a town senator representing Penn State constituents who reside off of campus. I cast my ballot for him and believe his representation to be true and just. However, following his arrest stemming from the events earlier in the week, I feel he has embarrassed the University, the town of State College and most especially the Penn State student body, which has voted him into his current position. His actions, whatever they may have been, are unbecoming of an elected student representative of this great university.
This letter is not personal in any form, whatsoever. But due to the circumstances and conduct of Martin Austermuhle occurring on July 16, 2000, I respectfully request that he resign his position as USG Town Senator immediately and apologize to those who trusted him with their votes.

This has to be the best kick in the ass Rees has given Austermuhle as all that is said is clearly confirmed by the public record and found on the internet.

IGNORE THE PSYCHOTIC TROLL
Attention is Rees’s crack. Its unhealthy for him and for us if you give him any.
Let him babble away about commies and homos and whatever his latest delusion may be. We all know he’s nuts. No one needs to point it out any longer.
The more he posts, the more cruel and insane he reveals himself to be. Don’t respond please.
October 12th, 2006 at 6:54 am
How about people ignore the Troll posting above me as he is just as bad as Rees!

Rees’ honest attacks on the lack of moral turpitude of Martin Austermuhle has resulted in Gothamist, Inc., to demote him from editor of DCist to an editor at large and give the power to a lesser writer.
If what Rees wrote about Austermuhle was untrue, then Gothamist would have ignored it but to the contrary, they were alarmed by the truth and are now slowly squeezing him out.
The fact that Gothamist has been slowly but sure squeezing Austermuhle out says that what Rees has said about him is true, they are trying to protect their image and Austermuhle is proving to be a liability.

That is some proof.

Remember what a court psychiatrist wrote about Jonathan Rees in 1992. This is what you are dealing with:
“Mr. Rees either purposely lied to me or distorted reality, due to a pathologic process, or both. It appears reality is interpreted to meet his own internal needs. Given his functioning, he is not capable of entering into agreements nor abiding by decisions of the court.”
October 12th, 2006 at 3:18 pm
I wonder how whacky that court psychaitrist was as most of them are full of shit and I think most will agree.
Whose cares if Rees is psycho, I kind of like his warped humor. It reminded me of the early years of Mad TV or Cheech and Chung.
October 12th, 2006 at 3:19 pm
Woody Allen, Robert DeNiro, Bing Crosby and so many other rich and famous people have been deemed fucked up by a psychiatrist but I would rather be like them than me with the sanity and poverty.
October 12th, 2006 at 3:47 pm
Shut up, Rees. Likening your failed attempts at humor to MadTV, Cheech and “Chung” or any other genuinely funny person truly IS a joke.
You’re not psycho but funny. You’re psycho and boring. One might have thought such a combination would be impossible but you’ve discovered a way to be both.
October 12th, 2006 at 3:48 pm
Wow. Really? I’d rather be poor, sane and well-regarded instead of poor, insane, universally loathed and pretending to have money.
October 12th, 2006 at 7:48 pm
At least Rees isn’t gay!
October 12th, 2006 at 8:33 pm
Yes, but at the same time his, is a seed that should not be passed on.
October 12th, 2006 at 9:18 pm
He’s on the DL. That’s Gay in my book.
October 13th, 2006 at 8:16 am
Austermuhle on the DL?
October 18th, 2006 at 5:19 pm
Nope. Rees.
As the last few years of GOP history have shown us, it’s always the ones who decry it the most vigorously….
