A First Look at the National Gallery of Art’s New Van Gogh
It hasn't been seen publicly in over 50 years, and it's one of the National Gallery of Art's most exciting acquisitions in a very long time.
Vincent van Gogh's 1889 masterpiece "Still Life of Oranges and Lemons with Blue Gloves," part of a major recent bequest from the Mellon family, is being prepped in the Gallery's conservation lab before it's put on display as part of a long-planned Van Gogh installation this Sunday. The NGA's senior paintings conservator Ann Hoenigswald is inpainting minor losses on the work.
