EXTRA! Bob Mondello Tells a Hilarious Oklahoma! Joke—Because You, Our Beloved Readership, Demanded It

Tribbles. Lots and lots.

STOP READING NOW if you have not seen, or at least heard the soundtrack to, the beloved 1943 Rodgers & Hammerstein classic Oklahoma!

Ladies and Germs, because you demanded it, the Champlain Street Resort & Casino is proud to present the comic stylings of Mr. Bob Mondello.

An astronaut goes to the moon looking for signs of life. After wandering away from his spaceship, he sees a lump of fur –- like a Tribble from Star Trek — sunning on a rock in front of a cave.

Bob Mondello and Not a Tribble

The astronaut says to the little furry guy, “Take me to your leader.” And the furry says “sure,” and leads him down into the cave.

They pass a couple of other furries on the way… and then lots and lots. Finally the cave opens out into a big cavern where there are hundreds of furries. And right in the center, with a hypodermic needle sticking out of its head, is one gigantic furry, maybe three feet across.

The astronaut asks his little guide, “What’s that?”

And the guide says, “That’s our leader! The furry with the syringe on top.”

BLACKOUT.

Dear sweet baby jeebus, that is a TERRIBLE joke.

Wow, on the one hand, I'm grateful for such a rapid response to my plea. But on the other hand, I'm going to have to agree with Trey!

Tragically, my father reports in that this wasn't his joke at all. His apparently involved a furry with a singe on top not a syringe, but he can't remember the set up.

And in any case, that joke was apparently not as stellar as his joke about the angel who left his harp in Sam Frank's disco.

@Lisa: Oh, groan. Though I always heard people tell that one as "Sam Clam's disco" ... though what a clam was doing running a dance club, I never did figure out.

lol, that is AWFUL. But bonus points for working Trek into it.
