Lights Out For Dreamgirls: National Theatre Performances Canceled

Dreamgirls' upcoming run at the National Theatre has been canceled due to poor ticket sales. The show was set to play from July 28 through Aug. 8, but now D.C. will have to do without the singing skills of Deena, Lorrell, and Effie. According to the theater’s publicist, the theater will remain dark for those dates and no alternate show will be staged. The producers hope to bring the show back to D.C. in the future, but no dates have been set at this time. The rest of the tour dates are still on, and you can still rent Dreamgirls from Netflix if you really need to hear “And I Am Telling You, I’m Not Going,” which has suddenly become somewhat ironic.

Damn, I actually wanted to see that... Should have purchased the tickets sooner, drowning in guilt.
