Arnold Schwarzenegger, watch out: There's a new entertainer with political aspirations. Wyclef Jean is running for president of Haiti. Despite having recently claimed to have no political intentions, the recording artist–who first found fame with the Fugees–is planning to parlay his recent earthquake-relief charity work into a presidential run in his native country. Hmm, wonder if voters will turn a blind eye to the misappropriation of funds to Jean's mistress.

Wale, you're giving WaPo a shout-out but not us? In a new song called "The Soup," the rapper has a line that goes like this: "I am not no homophobe/ good thing I don't read the Post." C'mon, dude, at least give credit where credit is due. I guess "City Paper" doesn't quite make for the near-rhyme with "homophobe" that "Post" does.

Friday can never come soon enough–especially when you've got tickets to tomorrow's Arcade Fire show at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Good thing you can see their concert tonight, too. Terry Gilliam, director of 12 Monkeys, will be directing the live webcast of tonight's concert at Madison Square Garden. The show starts at 10 p.m., with a pre-show at 9:30.

Cat fight at that cattiest of shows, The View! Michaele Salahi, Real Housewife and White House gate crasher, is accusing Whoopi Goldberg of hitting her following her appearance yesterday on the show. Something tells me that this accusation–abutting tonight's premiere of "Real Housewives of D.C."–is yet another publicity stunt. Nevertheless, I think I'm going to have to tune in–the opportunity to mock a group of vapid women who "live" in city that bears no resemblance to my own reality is just too delicious.

Bridges is generating Oscar talk, and rightly so. His performance never for a second feels like one: This character is thoroughly lived-in, from Bridges’ pro-level singing and stage presence to the wry, too-late-now attitude he brings to the character’s shitty life. Bad gets away with being an ass because of his former glory, but even when [Maggie] Gyllenhaal’s apparent Dorothy Hamill–haired madonna enters the picture, there’s not a total about-face. He may have found a new spark that puts him on his best behavior, but at his best he still drinks—and when Jean stops looking the other way, he mutters: “I don’t want to hear it” before driving off. And, surprisingly, the actors’ 28-year age difference doesn’t result in a queasy romance. Bad’s music, though out of style, keeps a nugget of him young, while Jean’s former bad decisions and life as a single mom lends her a weariness beyond her years, helping their attraction feel natural.

Also out this week is The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, director Terry Gilliam's latest carnivalesque fantasy—which contains the final performance of the late Heath Ledger. Olszewski writes:

[Colin] Farrell was a last-minute addition to the project, after Heath Ledger’s death prompted director Terry Gilliam to finish the film with Farrell, Johnny Depp, and Jude Law as rotating stand-ins for his deceased star. The shared-character trope has been jarring at worst (Palindromes) and odd at best (I’m Not There, the Bob Dylan biopic in which Ledger also played a fragmented role). Here, though, the transitions not only work but make sense in the context of Gilliam’s dense story about a magic man, his traveling road show, and a looking glass that transforms anyone who walks through it.

The festival runs through Nov. 24 with centerpiece screenings including The Young Victoria, a period romance from Gosford Park writer Julian Fellowes with Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend as Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, a Terry Gilliam film already well-known for being Heath Ledger's final project.
