No, don't cry, it's not goodbye forever. McArdle will, hopefully, be back for shows and visits in the not-too-distant future. And you can always pick up his much-slept-on full-length LP Northern Charms, if you need something ease the separation anxiety. You can find a copy, and also bid him a fond farewell, when McCardle performs his last show as a DC resident Monday, June 8th at Black Cat.

Ever see that documentary Heartworn Highways? There's that great scene where Steve Earle and Rodney Crowell are hanging out in Guy Clark's dining room drinking wine and singing songs. If you haven't, it's worth seeing because, first of all, it's three of the biggest country revival personalities from the late '70s sitting in a room together getting drunk and playing music. Furthermore, it also looks like a pretty good time.

Sean McArdle's record release party, this Sunday at Black Cat, is liable to have a similar vibe. A huge cast of friends and well-wishers from the local music scene–including Stella Schindler, John Bustine, and Shortstack's Adrian Carroll–will be dropping by and, presumably, doing something musical. Just like the movie. You might have to rejigger the title a little bit, though. Maybe make it something a little more evocative of DCs contemporary cultural climate, say something like Heartworm Beltways? Just a thought, I guess.
