Good morning, D.C.! Welcome to the beginning of the end of the miserable midterm election season. Did you do your civic duty by casting your vote? Come on, how could you turn down the opportunity to sport one of those awesome ¡Yo vote! stickers? Anyway, I guess this is actually a blog about arts and entertainment, so onward with today's roundup!

First, a fond farewell to John Olsson, founder of Olsson's Books and Records, who passed away last Thursday. Olsson is the second local literary heavyweight to die recently, after Politics and Prose owner Carla Cohen. Both will be missed.

Click Track chats with the well-suited boys of Interpol about the band's latest lineup, which now includes a former member of Slint (whoa).

TBD has extensive coverage from yesterday's liquor license hearing regarding DC9. In short: "The ABC board ordered a summary suspension of the bar's alcoholic beverage license on Oct. 19, following a temporary suspension issued by the Metropolitan Police Department. Joe Englert, who co-owns DC9 in addition to numerous other nightlife establishments in the city, testified Monday that he accepted Spieler's resignation. He said Darryl Carter, Evan Preller, Arthur Zaloga, and Reginald Phillips, the four other suspects in the case, have been 'let go." Prince of Petworth commenters banter, as usual, over whether or not and if so, when, the venue will be allowed to reopen.

Oh, and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals played at the Zoo. Weird. Also weird is Diddy not showing up to Howard's homecoming.

Here on Arts Desk, we examine some of the sartorial picks of this weekend's rallygoers and show some skin.

That's it. Blame the Tea Party or the Democrats for a slow-news Election Day, if you wish. Enjoy your Tuesday!

If having your first name added to the name of your band is a bellwether for burgeoning celebrity, then you could say 22-year-old Davy Knowles has arrived. A British blues guitarist with a soulful baritone, Knowles has sort of an Stevie Ray Vaughan-meets-Richie Havens thing going on. His band, <del datetime="2009-08-25T17:00:46+00:00">Back Door Slam</del> Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam, released an album earlier this summer called Coming Up For Air. Produced by Peter Frampton, the record is very much pop with a blues sensibility, rather than the other way around.

In many ways, Knowles & BDS sounds like the younger brother of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals; both jam-ish blues-pop bands with lead singers who have great pipes and love to show them off—the main difference being that Knowles plays guitar, and Potter plays <del datetime="2009-08-25T17:00:46+00:00">keyboards</del> your heartstrings.

Speaking of Knowles’s weapon-of-choice, the dude flat-out shreds. For guitar nerds, this will be well worth the drive to Alexandria.

DAVY KNOWLES & BACK DOOR SLAM, TONIGHT @ BIRCHMERE, 7:30 P.M. $20
