All Month: Fresh Produce Festival of Live Art at the Fridge

Give the Fridge credit for eclecticism: The Fresh Produce Festival of Live Art kicks off tonight at the Barracks Row art space and venue, with a month's worth of discipline-hopping programming to follow. Tonight's event features frequent City Paper subjects Bluebrain alongside magician Francis Menotti, actress and performance artist Emma Jaster, Contradiction Dance, and cabaret performer Paco Fish.

The festival is an expansion of the Fridge's Sunday Circus events, an "experiment" that the gallery's manager David London says was an unexpected success.

The festival undoubtedly promises some interesting experiences. Events include everything from a performance by slam poet Sonya Renee to a ukulele class from local band The Sweater Set. Later in the month, events include a “massive collaboration,” as London describes it, of performing artists titled “… and you’re just not good enough,” and a one-man show called 11½ Pieces on Death, Dying, Life and Living (A Comedy). The performance by the New York native Anthony Wills will explore death through various characters, which include a minister and a lounge singer.
