Billy Idol‘s command of the audience at last night’s sold out Lincoln Theatre show made the men swoon and the women fight (literally) to get closer to (and on) the stage. Backed by a killer band that included his original guitarist Steve Stevens and fellow Brit Billy Morrison (Camp Freddy, Circus Diablo), Idol played a 90 minute-plus set that included a cover of the Doors‘ “L.A. Woman” (changed to “D.C. Woman”). Clad in black bondage pants and, quite often, no shirt, Idol doesn’t look that different from his Rebel Yell years, and his voice still perfectly snarls. “My name’s Billy fucking Idol,” he said at the end of the show. And all these years later, you still walk away wowed.
