On “Get Down,” Cane Sounds More Confident

cane-get-down-mainI know I'm a little late to this one, but this recently released Cane track, "Get Down," is pretty dope. Over an exultant Statik Selektah beat, the Alexandria, Va., rapper jabs with great flair, a confidence perhaps inspired by the strides he's made in recent months. He won the WKYS "Who Got Next" competition and was slated to open D.C.’s Rock the Bells show (until the tour got canceled).

"Get Down" is all about tongue-twisting bars and introspective narratives. Clearly, Cane feels confident now, but he's still not satisfied with his progress—a common theme for most rappers: "It's my year, it's clear, but it's no shock/No doc needed, he's been on his own jock."

It makes you wonder how a Cane/Statik EP would sound. Statik's got beats; just ask Roots rapper Black Thought. Stream "Get Down" after the jump.
