Listen: New Music from Nitemoves and Ploy

nitemoves-themesLast week one of the best local electronic releases of the year came out, and very few people around here seemed to notice: Themes, the second full-length release from D.C.'s Nitemoves.

Something like half ambient and half pop, Themes (released on the Moodgadget label) comes straight from the brain of Rory O'Connor, perhaps better known as the live drummer for Com Truise and Tycho. Those two producers seem to have left an obvious stamp on O'Connor—as has, judging by the cover art, the Newport cigarette-producing Lorillard Tobacco Company. (Uh, don't get sued bro?)

ploy-from-homeAlso in recent synthesized music: a new track from the perennially sad-but-so-poppy Hyattsville band Ploy. The duo dropped the super-emo track "From Home" last week, and once again, it's Hook City, population These Dudes.

Listen to Themes and the new Ploy song below.
