The Dismemberment Plan

The Dismemberment Plan's first original studio album in a dozen years, Uncanney Valley, isn't likely to end up on too many end-of-year Top 10 lists. But while it's hard to see that album as anything other than a product of an aging band, The Dismemberment Plan's live show is basically ageless—at least judging by the band's Saturday show at 9:30 Club, one of two the ensemble played this weekend.

Tearing through a solid chunk of Emergency & I and spastic classics of old, it's clear that Travis Morrison and Co. are still at the top of their game as performers. The juxtaposition of tracks like "The Dismemberment Plan Gets Rich" with some of the new material felt a bit jarring, but live versions of some of the Uncanney Valley songs did have a certain charm and appeal that seems missing from the new album.

Some photos from Saturday night's show, including of openers Deleted Scenes, in the full slideshow (20 photos).
